Day 53: Your Life Is Precious and Beyond Compare
No matter how difficult your life and what you’re going through, you are one-of-a-kind. You are amazing and beautiful. You are beyond compare.
Of course, that’s easy to write and say, but do each of us believe it?
Probably not.
I know that I often deal with negative criticism within my head. That critical voice that tells me that I’m not good enough, I have so much to learn, and that I will always struggle.
Last week, I saw a tragic event. A man had collapsed on the train platform—the platform that I stand every day on the way to work. The police and medical personnel tried to revive him and then put him on a stretcher to get him to a hospital. As two other passengers and I spoke with a police officer, I asked him if they were able to revive the man. He shook his head and the thought sunk in: He had died.
Whatever family he had, they would eventually hear the news and would grieve him.
There was nothing that the medical team could do to bring him back, and they tried everything they could—four or five people worked to try to bring him back, but they failed.
We had been asked to stay so that we could give our statements to the police, and I felt helpless. The experts worked to try and save the man, and I stood off to the side waving my hands in the air to flag down additional police and a second ambulance crew that came on the scene.
That man’s life was precious, as is yours.
None of us know how much time we have on this Earth, and maybe that’s a good thing.
Today is your chance to take another step toward healing and joy.
If you can’t do it on your own, then ask for help. If you’re afraid, then overcome that fear.
The time we have now is all we got.
How are you going to use the time you have today?
