Day 327: Listen
Do you really take time to listen to your loved ones? When they are talking, are you thinking of how you’re going to respond to them, or are you listening deeply to what they say and then return in kind?
But there’s also another important person that you need to listen to: yourself.
In growing up in an alcoholic and dysfunctional family, I often neglected my own needs. I worked hard on trying to get ahead, but often ignored my own feelings because I was afraid of being abandoned by those I loved.
Are you taking the time to listen to what you need?
When you close your eyes, what thoughts race through your head? Are you worried? Afraid? Happy? Sad?
The work that needs to be done takes a lifetime, and it’s important that we listen to what our body’s need each day.
Are you pushing yourself too hard?
Are you happy?
Take stock on what you need. Yes, it’s important to listen to people in your life, but it’s also critical that you listen to yourself.
