Day 96: You're Exactly Where You Need to Be

This might sound counter-intuitive, and you might get angry that you’re not farther along on your self-healing journey.

I get it.

I’ve been there.

When I was younger, I wanted to always get to the finish line. To succeed and know that I did the job and got it done.

But life isn’t really like that.

There are mile markers along the journey of life, but the only true finish line is when we die.

Every day we have is a gift.

We might want to speed up time or slow it down sometimes, but we’re at the point in the journey where we’re at.

The choice is whether we’re going to continue to move forward on our journey or fight against self-growth and change.

If you’re reading this, then I expect that you’ve decided to be open-minded to self-reflection and growing as an individual.

That’s great.

In life, we go through good and bad times. The part that we’re in right now might be hard to deal with and be outside of our control (sickness or dealing with the loss of a loved one). We might want to fast-forward through those times, but we can’t.

What we can do is accept our current situation and focus on taking care of ourselves.

If we could sum up all of our experiences and see them in a flipbook, we could better understand what challenges helped to prepare us for what we’ll be doing in the future. But we can’t see what will happen tomorrow.

So we’re here today. Right now.

Instead of trying to rush to the finish line, I’m learning to be happy with the present. Yes, even if that present is filled with hardship. I’m not saying that I like hardship, but acceptance is a good thing to learn.

Knowing what we can change and what we can’t, can help us deal with who we want to be.

If we’re dealing with hardship, what can we do today to overcome it?

And if the challenge is beyond our control (i.e., sickness), how will we respond to it?

In the end, we have ourselves. Are we good to ourselves?

Do we truly see the beauty and power each of us has?

And most importantly, do we love ourselves? Not in an egocentric way but unconditionally.

That’s the thought to take in mind today.

You are exactly where you need to be today.

If you’re going through hardship, then what can you do to overcome that?
