Day 97: Finding Calmness
Chaos, disruption, and turmoil might be all around us.
But when we are at peace and calm is when we know the best course of action.
If we’re stressed, running, can’t stop to think, that’s often when we react rather than taking time to make a decision that is helpful and healing.
Go, go, go—that’s the motto of the modern world. We’re supposed to juggle the job, family life, and always be connected with our mobile phone.
Why?
Because that’s what “they” say.
I remember back before the time of mobile phones and how I seemed to get along fine back then. I didn’t need to take a picture of my breakfast to show the world what a great stack of pancakes I had to eat.
The challenge with modern life is putting up (and maintaining) a boundary to allow yourself time to relax and rest.
How can we be calm if we’re sleeping at night, and our phone is buzzing from all the notifications?
There are Facebook posts to like, Instagram feeds to see, TikToks to make, and people to get back to on Whatsapp or Twitch.
When we put down the stress and walk away from it, we give our minds and hearts time to feel and to breathe.
Sit still in a quiet room and just breathe deeply for five minutes. The five minutes you spend relaxing will do you a world of good.
Find calmness and peace of mind instead of the neverending scroll on our phones.
You’ll feel better and might discover you like it.
