Day 190: Belief and Trust

To achieve our goals, we need to believe that we can. If I were to say that I will become a best-selling author, I need to back that up with belief. As adults who grew up in an alcoholic or dysfunctional family, believing in ourselves can be hard. We may have been let down by our parents or guardians and lost hope in having a stable family.

What we do today is what counts.

Do you believe in yourself?

And the flip side of the coin to that is: Do you trust yourself?

It’s easy to say things but more challenging to back up our statements.

We are accountable to ourselves. What we do, who we are, and what we achieve is within our control.

For me, I grew up with much beyond my control. I know that my mother did the best she could in raising my brother and me.

Now, as an adult, I need to set the ground work for my future.

We can take a back seat and let things happen to us or we can take the risk to try new things. If we believe we can achieve our goals and back that up with trust in ourselves, then we will succeed.

If we allow others to pull us down or allow self-doubt to cripple us, then we will be trapped in the past.

Today is a new day. You have an opportunity to take control of your life, to accept who we are, and to move forward with our lives.

What do you want to achieve?

Say it. Write it down. Tell it to someone.

Do you believe you can achieve the goal? Do you trust that you can make it?

Belief and trust take time to build and grow within us.

When negative thoughts pop into our heads, we need to have the skills ready to overcome those thoughts. Daily affirmations, meditation, mindfulness, and journal writing are all skills that we can practice to help us overcome our insecurities.

If you want to achieve a goal, how are you going to make it happen? What is your plan? Who will be in your support network?

You might not have any answers to those questions, and that’s fine.

Start small. Achieving your goals in life takes time. Today you are putting down the first brick on the road to success. Sometimes you’ll take three steps forward, other times you’ll fall back.

For today, embrace yourself and give yourself the freedom to dream.

Believe and trust in yourself.
