There has been a lot of challenging work on previous days. The work is sometimes extremely hard because it deals with self-reflection, vulnerability, and sometimes working through past feelings. None of this is easy.
For today, please, take some time to relax and to pamper yourself. We can’t always be on. We can’t always be at 100% efficiency. We are not machines.
It’s a challenge for me to make time to relax.
Do you have that same issue? (If not, I admire you!)
When we talk about boundaries, there’s also the importance of building boundaries for ourselves. Boundaries on when to sleep, rest, and play.
I don’t know why adults no longer encourage play, but I think it’s critical to one’s mental well-being.
Play a board game with your kids. Or play some Scrabble with your spouse. If you’re not into competitive games (or it brings up too many old memories from your childhood on fighting over games), there are so many other things to do.
Take ballroom dancing lessons, learn how to play an instrument, start painting, or find some other type of creative hobby.
The boundaries between work and play are critical. We can’t work all the time. We need time to recharge, unwind, and relax.
Too often, people push themselves too hard. They work past midnight and then turn to stimulants (caffeine and energy drinks) to keep them going when they’re tired the next day.
None of that is healthy over the longterm.
Our bodies aren’t made to be pushed past 100% all the time.
So for today, take time to have fun and pamper yourself.
I don’t know what that is for you, but there’s time to find out.
For today, make a plan over the next few days to carve some time out to pamper yourself.
What type of activities will help you to pamper yourself?
