One day, maybe it was today, you’ll wake up and realize that you are changing. Each of us is changing every single day, but there are times in life in which the change is accelerated, more mutable and visible. And beneath the surface, the metamorphosis is altering who you are.
Change can be scary and unknown and a world beyond what you could ever imagine possible.
If you’re scared and worried, take time today to sit in peace and quiet for a few minutes. Reflect on the change you are going through. Feel the change and see if you can sense where it presents itself in your body. Your head, heart, throat, or is there a sense of impending rawness that has you questioning the path you have decided to embark.
Yes, change can be difficult.
Say it with me: “I am changing.”
Say it louder and with confidence: “I am changing.”
And then, hug yourself close, think of where you were, where you are, and where you want to be and say it a third and final time: “I am changing.”
There, you did it.
Take the worry and anxiety and place it aside. Sure, we might not be as far along on the journey as we might like. Maybe we have slipped and fallen. But you can get up. You can start again. That’s where the change begins.
When you stand back up, dust off your knees, and face the path ahead. You are human and each of us will make mistakes. We will fall, get sick, be tired, and hurt. All of these things are true.
But what if you embrace the change? What if you embrace the journey and the complicated mess of it all?
The beauty and the worry and the sum of all you are and all you will ever be.
We are changing.
And change is good.
Can you accept that?
