Day: 26: The Power of Silence

We have TVs, car radios, our phones, people, and all sorts of other devices to play music, news, or live streams that block out our internal thoughts. I catch myself often in this trap.

I bring an iPad with me as I make and then eat my lunch. I might watch a YouTube channel, the news, a video podcast, or listen to music.

How often do we give ourselves the luxury of silence?

Probably not as often as what we used to do years ago.

When was the last time you had time to yourself to listen to your thoughts?

It is so easy not to give ourselves time to think and just be. I know that I often push hard to finish work, get stuff done, and don’t give myself time to reflect.

To be.

To sit in stillness and to embrace that moment. What would we think of during that time? How would we feel?

Maybe we don’t give ourselves time to sit in silence because we’re afraid.

Maybe it’s time to face that fear and love that part of ourselves.

Just maybe, we might come out on the other side with a truer sense of who we are and what we want out of life.

For five minutes, sit alone in a room and turn off all sounds, notifications, and be with yourself.

How did that feel?
