Are you getting the rest that you need? Or are you staying up late, drinking caffeine to help you burn the midnight candle?
Sleep is one of the basic needs that are necessary for our well-being. We need to sleep.
Without sleep, we had a difficult time making decisions, can be irritable, and our immune system can be decreased.
But sleep can be difficult to get, especially restful sleep, during a challenging time.
I am writing this four weeks working from home due to the Coronavirus. Yesterday my wife and I learned that our children’s schools are closed for the rest of the academic year. Many parents are juggling having kids at home and working remotely. And for those who aren’t struggling with trying to be a parent and worker, over the last three weeks, more than 16 million people have filed for unemployment.
Stress is high right now.
And getting good sleep has been challenging.
Yet even though I’m going through a crisis, I’m working hard on going to bed at around the same time each night and work hard to get good sleep. Some night I’ve failed, but others I have done well.
I have known people who get less than five hours of sleep regularly. I hope that you are not doing that. Lack of sleep can help contribute to major health issues in your life.
Are you getting enough sleep?
If not, health experts recommend putting away your smartphone an hour before bed, go to bed at the same time each night, have no alcohol or caffeine hours before bed, and keep the room dark and cool.
Sleep is critical to your health.
Are you getting enough?
