Day 183: Change the Page

I had some intense dreams last night. Several times in those dreams, I raised my hand, put it up against a window while looking out at the scene below, and said, “Change the page.” The scene shifted, and I found myself in a calmer state.

Lots of people are talking about the intense dreams they’re having during the Coronavirus pandemic, and I can relate to that. I’m under a lot of stress and am here to help share with you what’s working for me.

Why did I keep saying “change the page” in my dream rather than “turn the page”?

Normally, “turn the page” is the term for moving on and letting things go.

But that’s not what I experienced in my dream. Instead, I wanted to change the page. Instead of staying within the same book, I wanted to jump to a new book.

What am I talking about?

Instead of seeing myself stuck in a certain circumstance, what would happen if I took myself out of my current environment and saw life from a different perspective?

If I limit myself to the same reactions, then I’m not growing.

Here’s an example. If someone keeps poking you with a stick and you keep reacting negatively, what would happen if we remove ourselves from that situation? Change the page.

Instead of reacting to how people are trying to manipulate us by staying in the same circumstance, what if we changed our behaviors?

We have power, but often we don’t believe it or see it.

The power we have isn’t given to us by others, but it’s self-generated.

Instead of playing into people’s games of manipulation, control, or cycles of dysfunction, what would happen if we refuse to do that?

The power that we have is immense, but often, we just don’t see that.

Today, as you go about your day, can you ask yourself this question:

Where and how can you change your life?

The simplest start might be by seeing where you have power and using it to help yourself.
