We are living in unsettling times. But we can choose hope or spiral into fear, worry, and anxiety. Actively choosing to hope takes faith and effort. When we don’t know what tomorrow will bring (or this afternoon), we have to work on ourselves to remain free.
When we hope, we can imagine a time past the challenges and suffering that you are living through today.
Over the years, I have had several readers contact me with chronic lifelong illnesses. They are suffering but still choose to be active love, and be. Seeing the struggle of others and how they refuse to give up hope, helps me to see the bigger picture.
But there is passive and active hoping.
If we sit back and wait to “hit the lottery” or for a better job to fall into our lap or a genie to give us wishes, well, that’s not going to happen. Passive hope makes us reliant on others.
But active hope is choosing to make choices to allow us to be in a good position for growth and change.
Someone once told me that we create our luck. What he meant is that we do the work that helps position us to be in a place so that we can receive the luck. If we sit back and are passive, we’ll not have the same opportunities.
Hope will carry us through the difficult times, but if we actively work to make our lives better, then we will be better able to embrace opportunity as it pops up on our path.
As you go about your day today and the days ahead, what active and positive actions (even if they’re small ones) can you do to embrace hope?
