Day 149: Build Ourselves Up

Day 149: Build Ourselves Up

I lost track of how many days my family and I have been sheltering in my house due to the Coronavirus pandemic. I know it’s over 30 days, but life has been a blur with work, stress, more work, more stress, and trying to navigate dealing with anxiety and raising children in an uncertain world.

To keep my spirits up, I’ve added certain rituals to my normal routine. I write or exercise but I’ve added in daily meditation and then listening to self-help podcasts.

Day 139: Live in the Moment

Day 139: Live in the Moment

Pinch yourself. You are awake. You are here. You are in this moment.

Having grown up in an alcoholic/dysfunctional family, I often wanted to be anywhere but in the moment. I wanted to zip into the future to see a better day. I wanted to be out of the pain and suffering that I was living through, but by doing that, I often missed the beauty of the moments that are special and happen each and every day right before our eyes.

Day 137: Allow Yourself to Feel Everything

Day 137: Allow Yourself to Feel Everything

I continue to be in my time capsule as I am writing this at the end of week 3 of sheltering-at-home during the Coronavirus pandemic. I don’t know what you will think and feel about the word “Coronavirus” as I don’t know how damaging the pandemic will be to the world. I can only see the present, and it’s frightening as more than 51,000 people have died from the virus globally.

Day 136: When You Want to Give Up

Day 136: When You Want to Give Up

There will be days when you will want to give up and feel weak and tired. There will be times when you are looking at the changes in your life and question whether you are on the right path.

As kids, we had hardships and experienced difficult times from our alcoholic and dysfunctional upbringings. We often carry a lot of guilt, pain, and fear that are triggered when we encounter difficult times in the present.
